Day twelve.......Monday, November 20th

Day 12 and it is time to make a decision on what we will do. Instead of travelling all over with the caravan, we have based ourselves in Perth and will tour around from here. We had an 8.30am departure, heading south along the Kiwiana Freeway.........through the city of Perth.....................

....and down the highway. I was surprised to see the railway line in the centre of the road............

We had a quick detour into Bunbury to have a quick look around........it was a perfect day to be out and about, not too hot yet, and a lovely blue sky and no wind.

This building used to be grain silos and has now been converted into apartments!! Very creative!

Again there has been much improvement to the roads and further south from Bunbury there is much work in progress......

Our destination was Busselton, which is about 3 hours south of Perth.

We found somewhere to have lunch, and then purchased tickets on the jetty for the Busselton Jetty Underwater Observatory.

The following information has come from the internet..................Ride the new electric Jetty Train 1.7 km out to sea, with 360° views across Geographe Bay, and take a tour through the Underwater Observatory at the end of the Jetty. Our experienced guides lead you through the natural wonders that lie beneath the Jetty where its piles create Australia’s greatest artificial reef, host to an awe inspiring “forest” of vividly-coloured tropical and sub-tropical corals, sponges, fish and invertebrates. Descend 8 metres beneath the water’s surface to view more than 300 marine species in their natural habitat through 11 viewing windows at various levels within a 9.5 metre diameter observation chamber. Access to the Underwater Observatory is only possible via a tour that includes a complimentary return Jetty Train ride, a 40-minute guided tour of the Observatory and a Jetty Day Pass.

Here are a couple of photos taken from the Observatory. I found it hard to get the colour from being green... and Barry's phone managed the colour much better as in the second photo...........

Of course we had to get a photo taken at the sign below............

During the trip south, I noticed some trees with striking orange flowers on them, and wondered what they were. I tried to photograph them from the car, but the pics turned out blurry and too far away. I asked someone later in the day what they were, and she told me, so I have googled and found this photo and the info....thanks to the internet... not my photo.
Nuytsia floribunda is a hemiparasitic tree found inWestern Australia. The species is known locally as moodjar and, more recently, the Christmas tree or Western Australian Christmas tree. The display of intensely bright flowers during the austral summer coincides with the Christmas season.
On the way back to Perth we called into Australind and caught up with friends of Barry's who are building a new house which we were able to see.
It was getting late by this time and was dark when we arrived back to Perth. It was a perfect evening to visit King's Park and see the lights of the city from up on the hill. My photography is not good, but you get the idea.........

A magnificent view that is better seen in person, than on my photos. It was a lovely calm and cool evening at the lookout, but when we arrived back at the park it was rather warm and very windy. Thankful for the airconditioner.
That's all for this post,
                                              Blessings, From Jude

What a full day, visiting beautiful places. We haven’t been down there since 1997, so it is very different. The city lights were a lovely finish to the day.

We do have some beautiful places to visit down South.
Sure is a lovely view from Kings Park.
When we were kids our Dad would cut a branch for the gorgeous Christmas to decorate..of course that’s not allowed now.
