Day 14.....Wednesday, November 22nd

Our day started out with time at the laptops, Barry to sort out some work issues and me to upload photos to the blog and write a post. This takes me quite a bit of time, and thanks to those who are reading of our travels. We love to read your comments and also those who have sent  text messages as well. I write these updates mainly as a record of our trip, which will be included when I get the blog book printed at the end of the year.

Driving through Perth I saw the Optus stadium which is where the Coldplay concert was last weekend, which made it difficult to get a booking in Perth......

.....and I'm not sure about this bridge, but it's a bit different.

We travelled through the Graham Farmer tunnel......

..and I found out this info re the tunnel on the internet..............

Our destination for the day was along the coast road to Cottlesloe and then to Fremantle........where you will find WA largest and busiest general cargo port. There are so many containers stacked at the port, aalthough they don't show up very well in this photo.

This building has a market (E shed) from Friday to Sunday, but was not open the day we were there.

Fremantle is an important historical town, and I loved to see the old buildings that have been kept and maintained...............

........even this one has kept the frontage as they renovate...........

I was intrigued to see all these boats stacked like this........and wondered how they got them into the water???...............

Lunch was at Cicerello's, which states it's WA's Number 1 Fish'n'Chips place.

It was very pleasant sitting by the water, watching the boats in the harbour...........

........and eating our lunch.............

....and watching other diners protecting their food from the scavengers, who waited close by for you to take your eyes off your food..................

When we arrived back at the car, this is what we saw!!! It did go down to in the 40's after we drove away....but it was HOT.

We saw this smoke in the distance as we were driving back, and it is from a fire in the northern suburbs. Properties have been lost and as at Thursday it is still burning and news reports that the perimeter of the fire is 53 km!!

Trying to get photos while the car is moving is usually a bit tricky, and this is of a railway station which is in the centre of the freeway, with walkways over the road from either side.

The heat this week has put a bit of a halt to our sightseeing. The forecast top for today (Thursday) is supposed to reach 40deg. The heat will be here until after Sunday, so we will be selective about what we do, and find activities that don't entail a lot of walking about outside.

Blessings, From Jude

Sad you are visiting while we’re having a heatwave in the West.
Lovely drive along the beach to Freo and then enjoy fish and chips at Cicerellos…

Gosh that's hot. I heard about the wild fires and wondered if they would affect you at all. Hope you stay cool - drink plenty!
