Gum Tree Quilters Exhibition report................

Early Thursday morning action commenced with a team to erect the quilt frames,.......

........morning tea time was a brief chance to put the feet up.....

.....and while the frames were going up members were delivering their quilts.....

.........then the hanging commenced.......

........and the decorations were set out......we are the Gum Tree quilters, thus local trees are "pruned" for the occasion......

An area was set up for people to sit at........

There was a display of ribbon winning quilts from previous years..............

............and here is a few of them............

The SA Quilters Appraisal Panel had a display of timed pieces....click on the pic below to read about this.....

.......and these are the different little quilts that were made to demonstrate the varying  times and thus the end values......
.
.
......the local painters also had a display of their work...

......there were shops to tempt us all.... this was the Rural Stitch Co from Bool Lagoon.......

.....and Louise from Lucy Purls, who makes beautiful bags......

There were other shops too, including Little Desert Quilts, and the local Men's Shed had items to sell, but sorry no pictures....

After the quilts were hung, 2 ladies from the SA Judging Panel arrived from the city to judge the quilts.

Members 'manned' the door with smiles, and to take entry money and sell raffle tickets.....

Guests enjoyed lunches and cuppas and chatted......

The official opening was on Friday, and here our President, Pat is introducing our local Mayor, Liz Goossens  who opened the show and presented ribbons.

....Here the Best of Show was awarded ......

......for this quilt, Dear William, a Michele Hill design.....

....and here is Lois with the Runner-up to Best of Show......her quilt was made using the Westalee Rulers......

There were many other winners and a few photos follow.....

This quilt, Forest Friends, an Elizabeth Harman design, made by Mandy was Viewers choice....

.......and here is Pat with her quilt, Runner-up to Viewers choice.....

.....and it was no surprise that this quilt by Rebecca won Gentlemans choice.

Here are just a few more photos of the many quilts on display.......

It was very special to have this couple travel from Mildura to stay with me and attend the show. We have been reading each other's blogs for a few years now, and met for the first time in April when we attended Scrub Stitching retreat at Barradine and the second time when I attended the Sunraysia Quilt show in September. Thanks for making the trip Jo and Tony. We discovered what a small world it really is, when we found out that Jo's brother is with a lady that used to live locally on a farm near Bordertown and her friend came to the quilt show!!

....and here is the pic from the last post again, of 4 of the "Barradine" girls who all met for the first time in April.............

Here is Jo giving a stitching lesson to Pat one evening after the show......

It is always quicker to take the quilts down than put up, and after closing at 4pm on Sunday, we were out of the hall by 5.30pm. This was followed by a gathering for 11 at the local hotel where we enjoyed much chatter and laughter, as well as being waited on and no dishes!!!

The day after the quilt show saw us head to the city to return the quilt frames and it was Tuesday before I unpacked the quilts and found new homes for some and others placed in a pile to be donated soon.

That's all folks.

Blessings, From Jude
