Tis Christmas, 2019

I have been thinking of my Christmas blog post over the last few days, and trying to put together the right words, to express the things in my mind. I found the above "tree" on the internet to post. This verse has been the focus of sermons in our church over the last month, and expresses just what Christmas is about.

I have thought much about the last line that the child that was born, came to be the "Prince of Peace". It does seem rather strange to think that, in this world of ours at the moment, where peace seems to be very much absent. There are countries at war, nations divided and in turmoil, disasters such as earthquakes, floods, droughts, and closer to home the bushfires that are burning in our country. And social media throws out opinions from many people on lots of topics, and is it because of the perceived "anonymity" of the internet, that many disagree with a lot of rude name calling?? There seems to be little tolerance for those with different opinions. Can't we just agree to disagree, without the venom?

Everyone's ideas about peace will vary, and and many are stressed in the lead up to Christmas with preparations for the "perfect" day, and attending yet another end of year party. The shops are filled with things for us to buy, and we are trying to find that "perfect" gift, mostly for people that have everything they "need" and more.  Often that "prefect" family gathering will be full of tensions, or sadness.

The peace that God promised us when that Child was born, is the peace that is within us, that we can have from knowing Jesus, a peace that is internal, and is within us, in spite of external life happenings. The first line of that verse says..."for unto US a child is born"...... and this includes everyone.

So this Christmas I hope that you and your family will know that Peace. And may the gift of Jesus be the centre of your Christmas this year.

Blessings, From Jude
(with acknowledgement, and thanks to Ruth, our Pastor who is giving us all much to think about as she ministers to us).

This very morning I listened to Ruth speak about the Prince of Peace, even though I’m 300km away from Bordertown. Technology is amazing. So were her words, peace would be a blessing for us all. ðŸŒ
