Quilting update...........

It's time for that quilt show that I promised, and as the TV is not worth watching, and I have turned Max off for the day, this seems like a good plan before bedtime. The weather is heating up this week, and is a bit hard to take as so far this summer we have only had the odd hot day amongst much milder summer weather. Today reached 40deg and by Friday it is forecast to be 46 here!! (While I feel the cold more than most, I also WILT in the heat.)

The following quilts are all so different, in lots of different colours. It is really like a quilt show here every day. Some bring their quilts and know just how they want it quilted, but most leave the decisions to me. It always helps me if I know the purpose of the quilt, and if it might be for a special occasion. When I am still deciding I usually hang the quilt up behind Max, so that it will "talk" to me while I am working on another one. It is amazing how different every one is with their preferences in colour and designs. One person will walk in and tell me how they love the colours of that quilt, and then the next caller will look at it and tell me it's too pale, or bright or loud, or......!! It just goes to show that we are all "judges" in our own way.

Even our reasons for making quilts vary so much. Some of these quilts were from a shop, some were made for an exhibition coming up soon, some were from my Mystery weekend designs, and some just because, but quite a few were made for others, or will be donated to worthy causes later on. Isn't it great that by doing something that we enjoy, that fulfils our own creative urge, will then be given to someone who needs to know there are people in this world who care for them. So a benefit to the quilt maker, and the recipient.

To start there are 2 quilts from Jennifer, to showcase Christmas fabrics from her shop. The first was quilted allover with a Holly pattern.........................

.........................and this one was quilted with a Christmas Stars allover.

Rosie made this lovely quilt for a new baby, and it was quilted allover with Dancing Hearts.

Val's grandson chose this digger fabric for his quilt, so will be surprised at Christmas when he see it finished. It is quilted allover with a Tractor tire pattern.

Jenny made this kaleidescope quilt, and is also quilted allover with a star pattern. The fabric is so busy, it is hard to see the quilting.

Erica made this quilt, called Graceful Moments in a mystery retreat, and it was quilted allover with Rose Leaves.

The next 2 quilts were made by Helen, and both are for gifts. The first was quilted allover with Buzzing Bees.........

.......and this one, a hand pieced hexagon quilt of Liberty Fabrics had a small daisy pattern quilted on it.

Sherrel made this and it has simple custom quilting of concentric circles and a border pattern.

This panel of horses, was made by Dot for a family member who is no longer able to ride her horse. It was bordered with stars and quilted allover with Ponies.

Kerryn made this simple quilt, with pretty fabrics and it was quilted with Featheration.

This is another Mystery retreat quilt, made by Val, called Daisy Petals and quilted with a Daisy pattern. This will  be gifted to a grand daughter for Christmas.

This is another retreat quilt, made by Dot, and was shown in an earlier post, before it was quilted.
This was custom quilted, and will probably be gifted by Dot to a worthy cause......................

...........and features some fun panels, that I cross hatched over...............

.....................can you read what they are saying?

This is Jenny's Antelope Canyon quilt, made with the Texture Graphics fabric range. This was  quilted allover with Connected Circles.

Robyn made this quilt, called Dramatic Effects in a Mystery retreat, and it was quilted with an allover pattern called A Tisket A Tasket.

This quilt is from a group that makes quilts for those who need one, and their tops are usually quilted by Ruth, who is amazing with what she manages on her domestic machine. The size of this quilt was a tad daunting, so it came to Bordertown for Max to do instead. I think I was supposed to quilt it simply with an allover........... but the quilt "talked" to me and said it wanted just a bit more! (And if it was going to be quilted by me, on a domestic, I can tell you, it would not have "talked" to me at all!!)

There are still a few more photos in the files, but that might wait for next week.

Stay cool, if you are in Australia, and warm if you are in the north part of this world.

Blessing, From Jude
