Cheryl's quilts

Time for a customer quilt post, and here are 2 of Cheryl's quilts. The first one was made using Cheryl's collection of laces and doilies that belonged to her mother and grandmother. There is an amazing array of these and I love how they have been combined in each block, and then beads have been added. The first few photos are of some of the blocks before quilting.....................

This is after quilting, and you can see that it is quite a large quilt and will be used on Cheryl's bed. It is good that she will be using this quilt with lots of memories. Cheryl is not sure what will happen to it "one day" as she has 2 sons and no daughters????

These are some of the blocks after quilting, and as each block was different, I had to put my thinking cap on as to what to do in each block.

This smaller hexaon quilt was hand pieced by Cheryl using her collection of scrap fabrics. This was quilted allover with a flower pattern called Pretty Penny.

I do have more quilt photos to show, but will save that for another post, as I have some other computer work to do, and only have until the little man wakes up. Miss Bridie is having quiet time watching a movie. We have made cup cakes this morning, and done some colouring in and played UNO. I had to scrape the ice from my windscreen this morning before clocking in, and it's still quite cool outside, with little glimpses of blue sky every so often.

Have a good day,
Blessings, From Jude

The top quilt is amazingly ornate & I can imagine it was a huge job to quilt. Both lovely. Still cold, wet & miserable here & I've decided "Mr. Sun" must have Covid too & gone to bed to recuperate. Take care & stay safe.

Your detailed photos of Cheryl’s quilt really shows the fantastic work she does & then your amazing skill that makes this quilt spectacular. The hexie quilt is beautiful, & as I was lucky to see both ‘in the flesh’ my admiration was enhanced. 🌷

Wow, the lacy quilt is gorgeous - Cheryl has done a fabulous job of combining all the laces and doilies and your quilting of it is superb - enhancing without taking over. And great team work on the hexagons too, a very pretty quilt.

The lace/doily quilt is absolutely stunning! I would have been afraid to be the quilter on it as it is a treasure; I would worry about my abilities. You did an AMAZING JOB! I could look at this quilt all day long - quilting and all!

Hours and hours of lovely work in these quilts. So glad to have read of your past blog posts and know that you are able to have a few visitors and things are going well. Sorry to hear about Raelene broken wrist though, I do hope it is healing well, you will really miss her visits. I am really missing having visitors and sad that we cannot cross the border too, affects a lot of people I know. So hope that we can get things under control this time and it stays that way, the consequences are just too sad.

My word the doiley quilt is stunning - what a treasure trove of memories. Maybe the sons will keep it as a reminder anyway.
