Time to play catch up again with newsfromjude. Life seems to be speeding along so fast that I can't keep up! Planning is well under way for our October quilt show, although we know that in life these days, anything can be shut down at a moment's notice. Our state and a few other states of our country are currently in shutdown while authorities try to halt the spread of the Delta strain of Covid.
I am currently working through the queue of quilts that are due to hang in the show, and have just come out of 2 weeks of custom quilting and now doing some edge to edge quilts to break up the strain. The elephant has left the room now, and I will post photos in due course. I seem to be the collection place for member's quilts who have gone away (or had intentions of going interstate but then couldn't!) and one of the beds here has currently got 16 quilts spread out on it. Some of them were delivered in bags, but it's not good to keep them folded up is it? This bed might be a nice warm place to sleep this winter, although the weight of all those quilts might not be very comfortable!
A couple of weeks ago I had another trip up the highway for an appointment and after a very early and cold start to the morning I arrived in time for breakfast with my mum and sister and her family.
I later discovered that the furniture removalist from Sydney who travelled through Victoria to Melbourne and then to South Australia and Adelaide, stopped at the Tailem Bend petrol station on his journey. In fact, he travelled on the same highway at the same time that I did, but thankfully I made no stops on this trip as I usually would. Just goes to show how easily things can turn around!
Earlier in the year when things were "normal", DS and family (who live in SA) and DD3 and her family (who live in Victoria), booked their caravans into a Victorian park for the school holidays. I hadn't been over to Melbourne to visit, so decided a day trip to Halls Gap would be achievable for me. It didn't look like the trip was going to happen when Covid hit Melbourne prior to their dates, but the week before, the borders were opened for SA to travel to Victoria provided the relevant Border passes were obtained. DS and family travelled over on the Friday and I made a day trip on the Saturday.
It was a lovely sunny day, although very cold. It is a very pretty area and the wildlife are very friendly!
They soon discovered that it is not a good idea to leave your loaf of bread on the table under the awning.
You might guess what happened just after this photo was taken!? No, she did not fall, but did lose the boot in the mud.
This is a pic of Lake Bellfield and that stone wall separates the lake from the caravan park.
It was a few days later that we learnt of the trail of Covid cases that the removalist van had created. And it is scary to think how close it could have been as we all travelled on the same road as that van on the same days.
I had a specialist appointment "up the highway" today, but due to our state going into a 7 day lockdown it was cancelled until a later date. I had another appointment scheduled for tomorrow but that also is deemed non essential, so we sit at home and wait.
Last Saturday my fairy arrived for an extended stay, although that was before we knew the shut down was happening. Where ever you were at 6pm last night is where you need to stay for the duration, and so she stayed. We have been busy bees with lots happening, including bindings, sleeves, labels, sewing, sorting and quilting with Max. There will be no visitors for the next week, and we won't be going anywhere.
Be back soon,
Blessings, From Jude

Good to see a catch up post & boy, you have been busy. I'm struggling through all this & sort of keeping busy in a strange way. Glad to hear you've met up with family & we aren't allowed visitors to our homes & can only go 5kms from home. I love, love those pics of the kangaroo & rosella & remember staying in parks with naughty possums & kookaburras too. Thanks for making me smile. Take care & hugs.
Lovely post Jude, so good for the family to have a catch up. Wonderful the fairy has come for a visit, lots will be getting organised! 🧚♀️🧚♀️ sounds like you have been busy with quilting . It is scary how easily the virus can be transmitted, those men have created a lot of problems for the country. Thank goodness you didnt stop going thru Tailem Bend. We are locked down for another 7 days..guess more sewing will be done and more books read!
So you had a sewing partner for lockdown. Lucky you
It is a scary time and thankfully you didn’t need fuel at that garage…..
So good you had a chance to catch up with family. Some lovely photos….
Isn’t it great you have your Fairy in lockdown to help with the binding of all those beautiful quilts..
Take care and stay safe.
This has been the best place for a lockdown. I’m keeping a bag packed when I get home for a fast get-away IF there is another lock down. What a joy to have met up with your family, especially having the grandies to hug & kiss. 💕
Lucky that you took the opportunity to meet up with family. With borders opening and closing it is a nightmare trying to organise get togethers. You and the fairy will no doubt be busy in the sewing room.
