Going with the flow.............

This morning started like a "normal" working, quilting day, after my study time at 6am, then watering the garden, hanging out some washing, and turning on Max. I was on a mission to finish the quilt that was loaded, and only had a couple of hours left to do. I had only worked a half day yesterday as I had travelled "up the highway" to have some blood taken for a specialist appointment that is scheduled for next week. (And sorry to say that they could only get 2/3 of what they needed from me, after digging a few times, as I don't give up my blood easily!) And yes, it is possible to get blood taken here, but the specialist had requested I use this collection centre.

It was late morning when the phone rang, and DS was ringing. I immediately wondered if there was something wrong, or a problem with Tate. (As mothers do, don't they?) But it was all good, as he thought I might be going up for the blood test today. Oh no, I went yesterday, pity you hadn't gone then, or let me know and I could have arranged to go up today!! But his decision was an impromptu one, as he was on holiday, Tate was being very good, and they thought they would take the baby and introduce him to his great grandfather, and namesake.
(They live 1 hour north from my parents, and I live 2 hours south).

I was a bit sad about this, as I was hoping to get a 4 generation photo sometime when we all could be in the same place at the same time. I told him I had been up Friday, and Monday, and it was a bit much to go again. My ever practical son said, why not, just do it. And I did.

I remembered my post at the start of January, which I have copied .......

This year I am not making any resolutions, or words for the year. I am just planning to "go with the flow", and take each day as it comes. I know I have opened the year planner in the diary and scheduled lots of things, but will try not to look too far ahead and stress about what is ahead. I hope to concentrate on embracing the here and now and savour each day.

.......and so today I put this into action and went. I embraced today and we all had a lovely day. I took the opportunity when it was presented. (And I had finished that quilt, and loaded the next backing before I went!)
And it turned out that there was other family there also, so it was a busy day for my mum and dad.

My Dad and my son have a special bond that has grown over the years. DS spent a lot of school holiday time on the farm with my parents, and they have lots of memories, and talked about some of these today.

My niece, who just loves babies!

A 4 generation photo, of mum and dad with their 1st child (me), their 10th grandson, and their 14th great grandchild.

Dad decided that Tate was too small for him to hold, but Mum has not lost her touch!

And we must not forget Miss Bridie, who was very excited when she arrived, and told me that they had a baby in their car.

So all in all, it was a great day, and I am pleased I went with the flow. And I am feeling good about getting some custom quilts done as well as be "on the road" again. I have 8 days now, before I head up the highway, I think! You never know just what will happen next. Life sure is not dull or boring around here.

That's all the newsfromjude for now, I shall be back soon with news of something else unplanned, that has occurred this week.

Blessings, From Jude

Good on you Judy for just doing it, life's too short to miss opportunities like that even though we can't always take advantage of situations. The jobs all got done and you have some beautiful memories of the day.
