Day 31 and 32....................

I realise that I am very overdue posting the rest of our journey home. This morning I will try to update the newsfromjude before any more time goes by........

On Day 31 we left Alice Springs after another cold night. The weather certainly is different to what we had in Darwin.

Just out of Alice was this sign, telling us that it was 1500 km to Adelaide!!! We had travelled 7,500km so far, and Bordertown was further south east, so a few more kms to go yet.....

We arrived at the SA/NT border about lunch time and stopped for the obligatory photo!! We ate lunch in the car after this quick stop...............

From the border stop it was another 180km to Marla where we stopped for fuel. It was another 230 km to Coober Pedy and we decided it would be dark before we arrived there, so stopped at Cadney Park, 80km further. It was a nice little park attached to a roadhouse.

It was a nice little park attached to a roadhouse. We had settled in and was almost asleep by 10pm......
There was only about 10 powered sights and the rest were unpowered............Just after 10 another camper pulled into the vacant spot beside us, and they all got out and were talking loudly amongst themselves!!! ..........and the next thing Barry noticed we had no power........... so on investigating found out that the new arrivals had unplugged us to plug in themselves as 'their' power point was not working!!!!I won't go into all the details here, but after some 'discussion' and with a language barrier issue, all was resolved,..... we had our power back, and Barry helped them get power through our van!!??

Next morning we headed off again, towards Coober Pedy................

..and we knew we were close when the mullock heaps from the mines started to appear again..........

This was the place I wanted to return to.............

............to look at some of these.................and we did make a purchase.....my souvenir of Coober Pedy's opals.

There was still time to travel further, so on the highway again............

There were many of these signs warning of unfenced roads and wandering animals..........

Our stop that night was Glendambo, and very small dot on the map, with 2 roadhouses, a caravan park and a motel......

Glendambo Resort has been designed along the traditional them of the grand outback Homestead and woolshed.............and is full of timber beams.........

.............and bales of wool...........

.and the wood fire was a very popular place to be as it was so cold outside..........

We enjoyed an evening meal by the fire before another cold night with the heater going in the van........

The weather is getting colder during the days and the nights as we travel further south, and a big contrast to the warmth of the north.

I will finish this post here, and be back soon to finish the remaining days of our trip.
