I always seem to be playing catchup lately, and how did it get to be 12 days into January already??
So it must be time for an update on newsfromjude.
So what news is there for this post?? Not many photos in the files to remind me. Our few days in the Barossa were very relaxed and after playing tourist at the end of December, there was very little action after that. I did a lot of reading and managed to get 2 books finished. I enjoyed this one by Judy Nunn, titled Black Sheep. I have to say though that I was very disappointed with the ending. I have given this to my DIL to read, and look forward to hearing what she thinks.
Barry spent more time 'under the van' in a continuing effort to work investigate our intermittent brake problem. He has diagnosed the problem, and something (?) in the wheel was broken. He is confident of being able to fix it himself when he gets the correct part.
While we were in the Barossa, this little man had his 5th birthday and we shared cake with him. How did he get to be 5 already??
Except for a trip to the laundromat to do some washing, and the hardware store we did not venture far. There was a lot of snoozes, and sitting around, and our plans of playing tourist did not happen. This was the view we had of the house under construction.......
...and looking the other way to see the township of Angaston. The birds were very vocal, and we enjoyed the company of the kangaroos as we sat outside the van in the early evening. It's just as well that DS has high wires around all his trees.
We had planned to stay on site until Monday, 15th January, but when we heard to weather forecast of heavy rain for the weekend, we decided to depart on Friday instead. On the way home we stopped at the Waffle shop at Coonalpyn for a bite of afternoon tea. They make the most delicious wafflers.
We had a quiet trip home with the loan vehicle until just past Tintinara, when I thought there was a truck coming up to pass us. But it turned out the the noise was our car, with the muffler giving out!! So, there was another vehicle for the repair shop. (Barry is now down to driving my car!!)
We arrived home to a rather hot house as the temperatures are finally giving us some summer weather.
There was many loads of washing and unpacking to occupy the weekend.
On Sunday morning we went to church, and I wondered whether we would be greeted as visitors, after an absence of many weeks.
Sunday after we drove to Kingston to visit my school friend Diane, who was down from Cairns with her sister. It was so good to catchup with her as distance has prevented this over the years.
On the way home we stopped for local fish and chips, and was mobbed by the local seagulls all waiting for some chips!!
Monday was the opening of a new shop in town, called the Hive, which is an outreach of the local churches where people can come for a cuppa and a chat. There is also an op shop on site and I am currently sorting 'stuff' that has accumulated in my house and needs a new home.
I will continue with news from the rest of this week in the next post. But the big news of this week is that Max has been switched on and the first action for 2 months has happened!!!
Be back soon
Blessings, From Jude

Lovely to see a catchup post. You've certainly packed in a lot over the last few months & had some great adventures. Good to meet up with your old friend & also get Max on the move again. Pass some of that mojo onto me, as Bubs has had a hiatus of around 4 months & I really need to get myself together & quilt again. Happy new year, take care & hugs.
There may have been lots of relaxing, but there was still plenty of New From Jude. The birthday cake looks very cute and the waffles would have been divine. Poor Barry. He is having trouble with cars and van. Let’s hope it is a case of things come in threes and all will run smoothly from now on. Max would have been pleased to see you. I look forward to seeing what he got up to.
You have been keeping busy, in spite of the relaxing! I hope Max remembered who you were :-) I hope your vehicle troubles sort themselves out soon!
That’s not good for Barry. He is having a bad run. So how far did you get with Max.
I bet Max is jealous of your new love. It is about time you gave him some attention.
It is good Barry feels he can fix things. Having a man around to do that is something I take forgranted.
Two books is really some good relaxing. I generally listen to my books while I multi-task. What is "relaxing" lol?
Lots of adventures to look back on. Always a mountain of washing to be done at the end of a holiday. Enjoy your time with Max.
I hope your car troubles are coming to an end.....but gosh you have been busy!
Great catch up post, your holiday sounded relaxing after all the hiccups. Good to see Barry has solved the brakes problem. Sounds like you have had enough car problems for the year! Enjoy some time with Max.
