Catching up once again..............

I don't know how this year has flown by so fast, and here we are at the last day of June already.....the half way mark....I always seem to be playing catchup, don't I? As I seem to be so far behind, I have to wonder about whether i should keep the blog going or quietly give up?? Life has certainly changed for me and there are no retreats to post about anymore??? And very little quilting. What do you think??

It's 2 months since I posted and here is another 2 month catch up post. So what have I been doing?

THE WEDDING.............

In April GD2 and her fiance were married.....the bride and attendants were beautiful.......the groom and his guys looked handsome and the weather was perfect for an outdoor autumn occasion..........

ANOTHER HOLIDAY

Straight after the wedding we packed the van and headed off again............and I shall do a separate post on this........

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY

How do the years fly by so fast?? A bit scary when it hardly seems any time at all since I was much younger!?

A VERY RARE SEWING DAY

A friend was in town for a few days and requested a sewing day with me, so I asked a couple of other ladies and we had a lovely day together. It is only the second time in 12 months that I have sat at the machine!!

70th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Barry's brother turned 70 and there was a family party to celebrate at the local hotel.

A CONCERT

We had a trip with friends to Horsham to attend the Creedence Clearwater Collective concert.....

.......and since then we seemed to have caught whatever bug is going around, and so not much has been achieved except staying by the fire and keeping warm.

OTHER STUFF........

There has been more sorting of the contents of Barry's house and this house in an effort to declutter. An ongoing task that has us wondering if we will ever finish. It is a definite wakeup call to go through my 'stuff' and get some sort of order in it all before someone comes in and does it for me???

I have spent more time with Max and finished off a few more customer quilts.

A good friend has been sewing some of the quantity of scrap fabrics and unfinished tops that seem to be everywhere in this house. These will all be donated somewhere eventually, and I shall post photos in another post.

There has been a few meals and lunches out with friends which is always lovely. Friends that go back 40 or more years were in town recently and we caught up for morning coffee, which lasted until lunch time!!

And the big news for this week, is that I am up to date with my end of financial year bookwork, instead of coming to it, 6 months down the track!! Wonders will never cease??

That's all folks....be back sometime with a report on our latest trip. (Well, before we leave on the next one??)

Blessings, From Jude

A quick trip away............

This post is well overdue as it was a trip we took a couple of months ago........we had an invitation to a party and a scheduled specialist appt both a few days apart.........so a decision was made to take the van for a few days break......

We headed off on the Friday afternoon and had to cross the Murray River to get to Victor Harbour.............and the queue was so long we had to wait for the ferry to cross twice before we could get on..........

This was the view across the river at Wellington, a popular holiday spot and residence ...............

We arrived at the Victor Caravan park and were fortunate to get one of the remaining spots available.....

On the Saturday evening we attended the 50th wedding anniversary of my long time friends, Kaye and Lyn, and this was held at the Middleton Tavern which is not far from Victor..........

This was a photo  from their wedding and it looks so 70's! Very different styles to those of today.

On Sunday morning we attended church with some of Barry's friends.

Sunday morning we woke up to see that this tree had lost it's branch.....not too far from where we were parked.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch with Claire who I went to school and then worked with........it was so good to catch up again.......

A drive around the town followed lunch..............

.......and a drive up to the Bluff, to look out over the town and sea............

On Monday I had an appointment at Mount Barker, and following that we went up to Mount Barker and climbed the summit.....

Mount Barker also has a lot of meaning for Barry and the gates at the showground are a memorial for Amos William Howard who discovered sub clover in 1869..........

We drove through Strathalbyn on the way back to the caravan and enjoyed tea of fish and chips sitting by the park there..................

On Tuesday it was pack up time and we journeyed home through the little town of                                                              Milang, on Lake Alexandrina..........

..........and then through the district of Brinkley, where I grew up and here is the local hall, and my parents both went to school in the little building on the right...................

..................and then called into Murray Bridge and visited with mum, before heading back to Bordertown, after a lovely few days away and lots of memories for us both.

That's all folks,
Be back soon with news of the next trip away.

Catching up once again............

I'm way behind with blogging, I have been reading posts, but not left many comments. Apologies for that.

Have a few minutes sitting and waiting so here is a few recent, (and some maybe not so recent) happenings......

The weather here in South Australia has been very dry so far this year......not much rain recorded at all, lots people are out of rain water.....we did have some stormy weather with lightening and the clouds looked promising, but scant showers......

........and there were a few fires......this was actually 20km away.....

***************

I n other news we sold our pop top van......and this was saying goodbye as the new owner took delivery....

***********

I took my 'wares'  to the city for the SA Quilters March meeting as I was the shop for the evening..........I was very happy with sales before the meeting,  and looked foward to more afterwards........sadly the power at the venue went out just before the meeting closed and everyone went home instead of buying more....it was too dark

**********

I will be one of the shops for the Sunraysia quilters show, at Redcliffs on the first weekend of September,  so looking forward to that.

************

We ventured north for a day trip recently, and decided to try out the track through the Big Desert, which was a much better road than we expected.....and ended up at Murrayville which was the halfway mark to meet Jo and Tony from Mildura.

There were a few camp spots along the track, with toilets and water.....

We took Pat and Alan with us for the drive, and met up with Jo who is handing her quilt to me for quilting.

We all enjoyed lunch at the local store....

*******
It was lovely to have the lovely Faye Packham and hubby Kim call in for a visit on their way through Bordertown to AQC in Melbourne.......

************

Barry and I did have a few days away in the van......way back in February!! I shall do a separate post about that.....

************
Other news includes recovery from a simple op and LOTS of resting and book reading and being waited on......

Tomorrow we are off up the highway for a very special occasion, and then we hope to pack up the van and head east and then north......

Be back soon
BLESSINGS, From Jude
