90 years young!!

It was 90 years ago today that my mum was born, the 7th child in a family that would increase to 10. Digging into the photo files I found this earlier one of mum, aged about 8.

.................and this one when she was about 18. Looking at this photo I can see a strong family resemblance in a few of the younger ones.

This photo, with DD2, was taken 10 years ago at her 80th celebrations.

On Sunday family and friends gathered at the Brinkley Hall to celebrate her 90 years. Our family farm is not far from this Hall and we all have many memories accumulated over many years attending events here. It was very timely that our SA border opened to Victoria last week and our Melbourne family were able to be present. From being one of 10, she is the mother of 5, grandmother to 15 and great grandmother to 19 and very soon to total 20.

This photo is almost 40 of the direct descendants that were able to be present.

As one of 10 children, the number of cousins on Mum's side of our family totalled 45, and here are the 12 who were able to be present. Probably not a bad effort as there are lots living in other states.

Yesterday Mum packed her bags and came to spend a week with me. Because we celebrated on Sunday, she expected a nice quiet day today to sit and read, but has spent most of the morning on the phone receiving calls, and checking the I Pad for messages, while enjoying more birthday cake with her coffee. This 90 year old has a very good grasp of modern technology and this enables her to keep up with all the family activities. She has a great collection of photos on her I Pad that family send to her.

We are not planning very much this week, maybe some D.E.A.R. time, looking back at photos and perhaps time to 'smell the roses', before the arrival later in the week of family.

I'll be back soon with another post of a special event that was held on Saturday as well as some other exciting news that I have to share.

Blessings, From Jude
