Sunday report

Checking out of our hotel in Paducah.

The bus departed Paducah about 10am, and we drove all day in the rain, from Paducah, Kentucky, up to Branson, Illinois. It rained most of the day, so not good for photos out the window. If it had to rain while we are away, Sunday was a good day for it to come down.

The Americans are all very patriot, and there are flags flying from lots of business' and houses.

The school buses are all yellow, and I missed the front of it.

We went through the town of Cairo, (pronounced Kayro), which has many derelict buildings. It was once a thriving town, but not any longer.

The scenery changed from open farm land, where they grew cotton and rice to mostly hills and trees, as we went higher and higher.

Not long after Paducah, we crossed the Mississippi river. Now they have BIG rivers here!

This was the flood plain, also full of water.

There are many barges on the river, and are used for carting lots of things up and down the river system. These coal barges.

We stopped for lunch, not sure where, (just found my notes, and it was Poplar Bluff), where we had burgers to go. Next stop was a donut and coffee stop.

The price of fuel here, for a gallon!

The different scenery, after lunch.

Sorry some of the photos are a bit blurry, but the bus was moving.
The rain stopped about 4pm, and it was still a bit cool, but I would say Cold!
I will talk more about Branson in the next post.
Time to check into our rooms, and head out to dinner.

Blessings, from Jude

You won’t forget Paducah, even quilts hanging in reception area as you booked out! Quite a big contrast of scenery houses & weather as you move about the country. Thank goodness you took your BIG COAT!!
