Thursday - part 2

The bus let us off downtown, and we finally found a shop that had good coffee, and HOT tea!! Don't think we can get used to the iced tea, although some have tried it! This bakery also made amazing sandwiches, and we sat outside the shop to enjoy them.

While we eating and chatting, Michael (who was selling clothing nearby) heard us talking, and he came over to talk to us. All the Americas like to hear us talk. He wanted a photo of himself with us, so he could show his friends that he had met Australians, so here they are. Lovely to meet you Michael!

And then we found Dennis, (or he found us??) and we had a big chat with him. I think he is well named, if you remember the TV show Dennis the Menace!?

After lunch we went our own way, and most walked back to the Quilt show.

We were walking along the street, and sho did we spy in this shop window, but Pat!

and inside were the local painters group.

We walked via the river, and along the river is a long wall, built to hold back the water when the river floods, which happens every few years. Along the wall they have painted murals about the history of the town.

These are the gates that are put in the gaps in the wall, when the river floods as it does regularly.

In this photo you can see the 2 different colours of the water. This is the 2 different rivers, the Ohio and the Tennessee.

We spent the rest of the afternoon back at the quilt show, looking at more quilts, and checking out more shops. So much to see, and buy!!

Time for the bus to pick us up again, and this time we travelled about 3/4 hour to the small town of Fulton where we enjoyed a meal of slow cooked ribs.

Slow cooked 1/3 rib with asparagus, fried onion ring, and a fried green tomato. (They fry everything here!!)

That's all for Thursday, you can see we are packing a lot into each day.
Time to pack the bag (S)! Back when I can.

Blessings, From Jude, who is only 2 days behind with the blog now.
