A quick trip away............

This post is well overdue as it was a trip we took a couple of months ago........we had an invitation to a party and a scheduled specialist appt both a few days apart.........so a decision was made to take the van for a few days break......

We headed off on the Friday afternoon and had to cross the Murray River to get to Victor Harbour.............and the queue was so long we had to wait for the ferry to cross twice before we could get on..........

This was the view across the river at Wellington, a popular holiday spot and residence ...............

We arrived at the Victor Caravan park and were fortunate to get one of the remaining spots available.....

On the Saturday evening we attended the 50th wedding anniversary of my long time friends, Kaye and Lyn, and this was held at the Middleton Tavern which is not far from Victor..........

This was a photo  from their wedding and it looks so 70's! Very different styles to those of today.

On Sunday morning we attended church with some of Barry's friends.

Sunday morning we woke up to see that this tree had lost it's branch.....not too far from where we were parked.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch with Claire who I went to school and then worked with........it was so good to catch up again.......

A drive around the town followed lunch..............

.......and a drive up to the Bluff, to look out over the town and sea............

On Monday I had an appointment at Mount Barker, and following that we went up to Mount Barker and climbed the summit.....

Mount Barker also has a lot of meaning for Barry and the gates at the showground are a memorial for Amos William Howard who discovered sub clover in 1869..........

We drove through Strathalbyn on the way back to the caravan and enjoyed tea of fish and chips sitting by the park there..................

On Tuesday it was pack up time and we journeyed home through the little town of                                                              Milang, on Lake Alexandrina..........

..........and then through the district of Brinkley, where I grew up and here is the local hall, and my parents both went to school in the little building on the right...................

..................and then called into Murray Bridge and visited with mum, before heading back to Bordertown, after a lovely few days away and lots of memories for us both.

That's all folks,
Be back soon with news of the next trip away.

Blessings, From Jude

You crammed a lot in on your short trip.
Lucky that branch didn’t hit your car or van…
Nice to catch up with Mum.
